A little about Tessa
We sat down with eight-time Canadian champion, three-time world champion, and Olympic gold medalist Tessa Virtue to discuss what the relaunch of her popular eyewear designs, London and Marlo, her, what she’s got going on this summer, and some of her guiltiest pleasures.
Tell us a little bit about this collection with BonLook. What do the names Marlo and London mean?
Collaborating with BonLook was a design dream come true. The process was organic, inspiring, and authentic. In designing these, we thought a lot about what kind of woman would wear them: she’s someone chic, ambitious and playful with regards to fashion. That old Hollywood, vintage style elevates any look. As far the names London and Marlo, they represent places – and people – close to my heart.
Marlo and London were such popular styles that we decided to release them in new colours (Latté for Marlo; Vanilla and Leo for London). What is it about these colours that speak to you?
These colours seem simultaneously classic and fashion-forward. Latte feels edgier and goes with everything. Vanilla warms up any skin tone and looks effortlessly cool, while Leo spices things up with its adventurous spirit. There is a time and place for each of these colours, and I love that I can dress and accessorize to match my current mood!
Where do you like to wear your Marlo glasses? London glasses?
I wear my Marlo glasses everywhere – so long as there’s sun! Dressed up and heading to an event, or completely casual in a bathing suit on the beach, I always feel confident and empowered while rocking the shades. The London frames are a fun way for me to experiment fashion-wise – I’m either making a statement or compensating for not putting on any makeup.
In three words or less, describe your personal style?

Summer is here! How are you planning to enjoy this season?
I’m making a more concerted effort to connect with friends and savour quality time together – it’s something I haven’t been able to do for most of my life given the demands of training. I also have lots of special projects on the go – sponsorships, charity work, Rock the Rink tour prep, and school!
